UAVs present a unique opportunity to support humanitarian and development efforts worldwide by providing timely aerial data, alternative transportation options and critical communication services. At the same time, the evidence base for the added value of UAVs is still necessarily thin given that this is a new and emerging technology. The purpose of this network is to catalyze research, information sharing and collaboration in order to build the evidence base, document lessons learned and disseminate best practices. As such, UAViators organizes Experts Meetings, Policy Forum, Trainings and champions the development of international guidelines to promote and enable the safe, coordinated and effective use in humanitarian and development projects.
